Pre-Arrival

Preparing for Your Arrival in NZ

At this stage you have many things to organise and think about so it is a really good idea to make a list so you don’t forget anything important. We thought we would help you to get started by making a list just for you.

Important Things to Do Before You Arrive

  1. Have you booked your accommodation? If you haven’t yet booked your accommodation, take a look at our accommodation options page.

  2. Have you met all of the conditions on your offer letter? If you are not sure and want to ask one of our friendly staff then just email us and we will be happy to help: admissions@ucic.ac.nz

  3. Have you received your visa? You can apply directly through your nearest New Zealand Embassy, the New Zealand High Commission or with help from a local representative. To find out more you can have a look at the visa page: but for much more detailed and up to date information and procedures, you must always check the Immigration New Zealand website.

  4. Have you confirmed your airport pickup? When you arrive you can safely get a taxi cab at the airport and they will take you to your local destination, just make sure you have your address printed off and give it to the driver. Alternatively you can pre-arrange airport pickup with NZ Shuttle.

  5. Have you confirmed your New Zealand addresses and contact numbers? When you arrive in New Zealand you will land in Christchurch; visit the airport website so you are prepared.

  6. Have you contacted our team at UCIC with your flight information and visa status? It is important to make sure someone in New Zealand knows you are coming, in addition to calling your family when you land. If you are not sure, email us at info@ucic.ac.nz.

  7. Have you visited our website to become familiar with the Orientation dates and class start times? It is essential that all new students join us at Orientation as this is when you will choose and enrol in your courses, receive important information and of course make new friends. Please visit our important dates page. Find out more about what goes on during Orientation.

  8. Get excited about your study adventure in New Zealand! Make sure you have the contact information of your family and friends so you can remain connected abroad. Find out all about our beautiful city and country. Explore your new home. We hope you love it as much as we do! Here are some useful links to get you started:
