The Pastoral Care Code

The Code

Welcome to UC International College (UCIC), where your safety, well-being, and success matter most.

The Pastoral Care Code outlines our commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for all students, whether you're from New Zealand or afar. It covers safety, diversity, well-being, support, connection, student voice, and honouring Te Tiriti.

We value your voice and well-being, so we've introduced initiatives like the Student Council, Class Reps, Buddy Program, and feedback surveys. These projects aim to support and enhance your well-being, development, and educational journey while empowering you to manage your own success.

The New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) administer the Pastoral Care Code. More information and the Code document in English and Te Reo Māori can be found on NZQA's webpage about the Tertiary and International Learners Code of Practice. If you would like to provide some feedback directly to us around the student experience or the Code, please email us or pop in for a chat.

Cultural Commitment & Framework

Our unique approach integrates Māori values, acknowledging the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We want you to leave UCIC with a deep understanding of biculturalism and its relevance in your studies.

Our framework revolves around Manaakitanga, Whanaungatanga, Mātauranga, Aromatawai, and Kounga, ensuring a culturally rich experience.

Our Strategic Goals

UCIC’s purpose is to transform lives through education. We exist to support students on their journey and help them thrive. As such, we welcome the introduction of the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021. We make a commitment to students to honour the Code by making strategic goals to ensure we support students in and out of the classroom. These goals and how we are performing against the Code will be reviewed annually.

As you embark on your UCIC journey, our Tī kōuka tree metaphorically guides you through our strategic goals:
